Noel Miller www.noelmiller.com was the first SIB Artist-in-Residence, he completed a series of paintings and images recording the landscape at the Ecology student field courses at Idalia and Lamington National Parks. An open exhibition was held in May 2008 at Waterfront Plaza.
Environmental Science students volunteer group (iROOS)
The iROOS have volunteered to work with the ranger to help monitor Idalia National Park, near Blackall in Western Queensland which is home to yellow-footed and bridle nail-tailed wallabies. The group will monitor various macropod species around waterholes and develop data sets that are relevant to conservation issues at Idalia.

Extension programs for high school teachers
Workshops are held at the Moreton Bay Research Station to provide teachers with additional information and skills to motivate students.
University of Queensland Insect Collection
The University of Queensland Insect Collection is a research collection first started in the 1920's by F.A. Perkins, the first lecturer in entomology at the University of Queensland. The collection now consists of more than 1,000,000 specimens of insects and related arthropods and contains material from all Australian states and territories and a limited amount of foreign material. The museum serves as a resource for various national and international institutions as well as providing a source of information for the local community.
